2017 GMC Acadia is 700 Pounds Lighter, But Offers An Off-Road Version

After several years of rumors and speculations the new generation 2017 GMC Acadia is finally here, at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. However, the rugged and boxy SUV that we’re used to almost disappeared in the new “suit”, which actually shows a typical mid-size crossover of this time. The new vehicle features more dynamic and narrower bodylines, something that is increasingly popular among drivers, so no matter we miss the old design we have to admit that the 2017 Acadia simply exudes modern lines. Moreover, the crossover offers some amazing characteristics, which force us to admit that this is one really amazing crossover.

2017 GMC Acadia: Changes and Engines

The most important change on the 2017 GMC Acadia is definitely a new platform. The new generation crossover rides on the manufacturer’s C1XX, or more popular Chi architecture, which made the vehicle essentially better. Compared to the previous model, the 2017 Acadia will come around 700 pound lighter, and this is simply outstanding. It is not just the word about better fuel economy, but about all driving characteristics of the crossover that must be completely different and indubitably better. In addition, the carmaker placed new engines under the hood, so you can chose between the base model with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit that produces 194 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque or a powerful 3.6-liter V-6 that delivers 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. In either way, you get great fuel economy because the base front-wheel drive model should achieve 22 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway, while the V6 returns 25 mpg highway and 17 in the city.

Shorter and Better

The slimmer and redesigned body is not everything that the producer did with the 2017 Acadia. The outstanding SUV has been shortened a little bit, so instead of previous 200 inches, the new model comes shorter for 7.2 inches. The wheelbase is also shortened for around 6.4 inches, but this won’t have any negative influence on the interior measures and comfort. Speaking of the comfort, the new Acadia also offers new technologies, literally everything that GM has to offer at the moment. However, what is more interesting, the reliable SUV will add a new version, so except of the regular and Denali models, the 2017 Acadia will be offered as the off-road All Terrain version. Still, there is nothing perfect on this world and neither is this car, because the manufacturer threw one seat. Yes, there won’t be 8 places inside, just 5,6 and 7-seating options.
