Mazda’s Koeru concept is finally getting the production guise. The Japanese carmaker didn’t manage to keep the new model from the public eye, so we have a sneak preview of the new compact crossover, which will be named the 2017 Mazda CX-4. The vehicle is spotted totally undisguised somewhere is China, but this was rather expected since the manufacturer plans to introduce this stylish SUV at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show that will start at the end of this month.
2017 Mazda CX-4 Gets Sweet Koeru Styling
The exterior design of the 2017 Mazda CX-4 crossover is completely based on the Koeru concept. The interesting compact crossover borrowed almost everything from the concept, which is pretty great, because now looks really stylish and dynamic. Compared to the bigger CX-5 model, the upcoming car is largely aggressive thanks to the lower roofline and sloping tail gate. However, the front end seems almost identical to CX-3 model. The new CX-4 features the same headlight styling and front bumper, while the grille sports the same shape but less slats. We haven’t seen the interior yet, but there will be a head-up-display and a MZD connect infotainment screen, as well as quite interesting upholstery.
2017 Mazda CX-4: Engine Options
The carmaker will definitely offer both gasoline and diesel engines under the hood of the upcoming 2017 CX-4 crossover. A 2.2-liter SKYACTIV-D turbodiesel will be a sole oil-burner option, while the gasoline model should have two choices. There will be a 2.0-liter and a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G four cylinder engines, as well as a standard front-wheel-drive and optional all-wheel-drive.
What About The New CX-5?
How we see it, the all-new Mazda CX-4 will be more stylish and lifestyle model, but it will still take away a good part of the market from the CX-5. However, the introduction of this kind model could be a great deal for the CX-5 model, because the crossover could easily become larger, which will solve the issue of the current tight interior of the model.
In any case, the CX-4 will make the debut very soon, so we will have more sweet details. Stay tuned…
