The all-new 3.5-liter V6 gets optimized fuel injection and an Atkinson power cycle, which is a kind of hybrid system. 2017 Toyota 4Runner: Changes and Tech

However, the new engine options won’t be the only changes for the new-generation 4Runner. The reliable SUV will also receive the all-new exterior and interior styling, as well as some new technologies. Thanks to its similarities with the Tacoma pickup, the 2017 Toyota 4Runner should keep its off-road manners. It will get a new retuned suspension, which will make improve its on-road and off-road abilities, and moreover the new high-strength steel body will provide better rigidity and weight-shaving. Inside, the new design will be further complemented with a new center stack and touchscreen display that runs everything: entertainment, navigation and smartphone integration functions… Regarding the exterior redesign, we think that the Toyota doesn’t have an intention to cut back 4Runner’s toughness. They already have car-based Highlander SUV, so there is no need to turn the 2017 4Runner into one more “soft” crossover. Still, the carmaker would likely add a little bit more angular styling, which will whittle away truck-like look.

The 2017 Toyota 4 Runner is definitely coming next year, so as time goes by, there will be more and more information about this outstanding SUV.
