2018 Audi SQ5 Revealed At The 2017 Detroit Auto Show


The all-new 2018 Audi SQ5 has been introduced at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. The sporty SUV isn’t just redesigned, but also revamped under the hood and skin. The German car manufacturer made some really important changes that will make the vehicle significantly better from the predecessor.

Powertrain wise, the 2018 SQ5 features a new turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6, the same one that powers the new S5. The amazing mill delivers a whopping output of 354 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque between 1370 and 4500rpm. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive. According to the automaker, the 2018 Audi SQ5 will be capable of accelerating up to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. Pretty impressive for an SUV isn’t it?

The crossover SUV sports the all-new front and rear suspension system, which is air adaptive and thus allows additional adjustment of height and firmness. There is also Sport rear differential available. The terrific setup splits rear-axle torque between the rear wheels in various ways. For instance, one wheel can use all available torque. The car gets an optional adaptive steering with various steering ratios, so it helps at high-speed driving with stability, while it boosts steering response for maneuvering at low speeds.

As for the exterior redesign, you can notice a new “Singleframe” grille with double horizontal blades and totally new LED headlights with 3D-design patterns. The sculpted hood makes the exterior additionally powerful, while the aluminum side mirrors and a roof spoiler boost the overall impression. Around back, the high-performance SUV features quad-exhaust tips and redesigned LED taillights.

The cab is completely redesigned too. There are sportier seats and standard brushed aluminum trim, as well as the optional carbon trim. Speaking of the options, you can add diamond stitching inside. It’s pretty cool.  Of course, the maker didn’t skip the chance to offer a new MMI infotainment with a number of useful features like hand-writing recognition and standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

According to Audi, the 2018 SQ5 will become available this spring. They haven’t said anything about the price, but the information will be available very soon.
