2018 Ford Bronco will come with the new US Ranger pickup. The iconic off-roader will revive!?

Jeep’s new generation Wrangler is just behind the corner and with the new chassis, suspension, redesigned body and other carefully crafted upgrades, this iconic off-roader could become even better machine than it is now. However, the new generation Wrangler won’t be so lonely at the market like it is today. Except of the current single real rival as it is Toyota 4Runner, Jeep’s off-road vehicle will get two more very strong opponents. The first should be GMC-badged new SUV, and the second will be the new generation, 2018 Ford Bronco. This long time rumored SUV is finally close to its comeback, which is scheduled for late 2017 year, right after debut of the US-specs Ranger pickup, Ford’s another returnee at the North American car market.

2018 Ford Bronco is getting ready in Michigan

Like we said, the arrival of the new generation Bronco, the SUV which lasted from 1966-1996, speculated from the time when the carmaker has released the concept version back in 2004 at the Detroit auto show. Still, in contrast to previous years, now seems like a perfect moment to make the next generation Bronco. It is not just because the countless fans and potential buyers, but due the opportunity for cheap investment that could actually pay off. Namely, Ranger midsize pickup will be produced at the Wayne, Michigan plant, and since the carmaker plans to stop building the Focus and C-Max models there, it will be some space for one another model. In addition, the 2018 Ford Bronco will ride on the same platform as the US-specs Ranger, so Ford’s iconic off-road machine won’t too b risky investment. Even though we have no idea in what direction manufacturer plans to go with the exterior styling, we know that the 2018 Bronco definitely won’t get in the way of its former replacement – Expedition. The new Bronco will probably get more rugged and heavy duty body, and definitely smaller proportion that the Expedition. Of course, the off-road SUV will get an aluminum treatment, so the light and rigid body could be an outstanding combination for great performance and respectable fuel economy numbers.

2018 Ford Bronco: Performance

Speaking of performance, the 2018 Ford Bronco will offer a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine that will be able to produce 325hp and 375lb-ft of torque. The second option will be a 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 365hp and 420lb-ft (569Nm) of torque, while the most powerful unit should be Raptor’s twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost with 450 horses. The compact off-road SUV will come with both 4×4 and 4×2 drive setups, while it could be matted to Ford’s all-new 10-speed automatic transmission.

The 2018 Bronco will definitely be really refreshment for the hardcore off-road SUV segment, which has been rather disregarded in recent decade. However, we hope that these rumors won’t stay just rumors.
