Here are the newest spy photos of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. However, this time we don’t have just the production-ready exterior, but also the underbody details. The upcoming flagship SUV still hides the front end styling, but we can anticipate what’s beneath the camouflage.
It seems that hood is getting a completely new scoop, which might be one more air intake for the mighty engine. There is also one additional vent just below the grille, so the front end could look pretty aggressive. The prototype also hides the headlights and bumper, which means they will suffer certain upgrades as well.
Still, no matter how important is the appearance of the Jeep’s range-topping model, the most essential part lies under the hood. Now, we know it will be the mighty supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that powers the Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcats, but we don’t know whether the carmaker plans to reduce the impressive output or no. At the moment, the impressive mill delivers 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, and if the manufacturer doesn’t change anything, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk could easily achieve a 0-60 sprint in 3.5 seconds, which is around 1.1 second faster from the SRT model. The producer hasn’t mention anything regarding the top speed of the SUV, but our insider claims it will be able to achieve 157 mph.
As we already said, we got some underbody spy shots, so we can see all suspension and brake upgrades. From what we see here, it’s quite obvious that the suspension gets extra bracing, which will definitely stiffen the chassis. In addition, there are enlarged brakes, yet SRT’s bilstein shock absorbers that might feature upgraded tuning.
There are no official words about the debut of 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, but if the manufacturer skips the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show, the high-performance SUV will definitely hit the 2017 Detroit Motor Show in January. The range-topping SUV will be really impressive without any doubt, but this also means it will be very expensive. We guarantee it will go over $75K.
