Both models the 2018 Jeep Wrangler and the 2019 Ford Bronco will have to pay attention the biggest attention on performance and capabilities.

Until now, Jeep’s off-roader was a single engine model, but this time the carmaker needs to offer several completely options. Under the hood, the 2018 Wrangler will have everything you can imagine – gasoline, diesel and possibly a hybrid drivetrain.

As for the gasoline model, it will definitely come with two choices. The base engine will be the upgraded 3.6-liter Pentastar, which is getting more power and better efficiency. Still, if you want something different, there will be also a completely new and quite impressive 2.0-litter Hurricane engine. We can say for sure what to expect from it, but the rumors say it will be able to deliver around 300 horsepower, or even more.

The carmaker will bring on the table the 2018 Jeep Wrangler diesel and hybrid too. The oil-burner model will likely use Ram’s amazing 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine, which currently deliver s 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. As for the hybrid powertrain, we can’t say for sure what the manufacturer plans, but let’s say it will use a mild hybrid drivetrain, and not some electric-only setup or something like that. Still, don’t expect to see the Wrangler hybrid right away, but in two or three years.

On the other hand, the 2019 Ford Bronco will definitely come with a range of gasoline EcoBoost engines. The producer will reconsider every option for sure, but diesel and hybrid will be offered only if the new Bronco becomes popular. In case you think that Ford doesn’t have a proper oil-burner mill, we say you are wrong because the company already prepares a diesel-powered F-150 truck, which will debut next year. It’s not exactly Ford’s engine, but the outstanding 3.0-liter Lion V6 diesel from Jaguar-Land Rover will definitely fascinate you. The unit produces 254 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, which is more that the current EcoDiesel can offer. What’s more important, it can be matted to Ford’s new 10-speed auto transmission.

Anyway, before all this, the 2019 Ford Bronco will offer manufacturer’s amazing EcoBoost lineup. The base mill will likely be an impressive 2.7-liter engine with 325 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque, while the range-topping SUV should get a 3.5-liter EcoBoost, which will deliver between 350 and 375 ponies. Of course, both mills will be paired to the smooth-shifting 10-speed gearbox.
