2018 Lexus NX 300: The new SUV will slot in between 200t and 300h models

Lexus’ crossover lineup is getting one more interesting model. According to reports, the Toyota’s luxury division is working on the new NX crossover. We know that because the manufacturer made a trademark filing for NX 300 name. What we don’t know is when the all-new vehicle could come. However, judging to the latest speculations, the model will come sometime next year as the 2018 Lexus NX 300.

2018 Lexus NX 300 will cost around $38K

As you probably know, the carmaker already offers two NX models, yet this one will likely sit in the middle in every aspect. At the moment, the NX 200t costs $35,405, while the NX 300h starts at $40,645. It means that the 2018 Lexus NX 300 could be around $38,000 or even less.

2018 Lexus NX 300 will borrow the engine from the  IS 300 sports sedan

In contrast to the NX200t that has 235 horsepower strong turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, and the NX 300h, which is powered with a hybrid powertrain, the 2018 Lexus NX 300 will almost definitely get the same powertrain setup like the IS 300 sports sedan. The setup combines a 3.5-liter engine that will deliver around 255 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, and a six speed shiftable automatic transmission. It will come with all-wheel drive only, while the fuel economy should be similar to sedan’s EPA ratings (19 city and 26 highway).

When it comes to the exterior design, the 2018 Lexus NX 300 should not offer anything new. We are pretty sure that the new compact luxury crossover looks identical to NX 300h model, except it will carry the different nameplate. However, since the NX already looks really bold, sharp and assertive, so there is really no need for any update for the new version.
