Well, this little fellow isn’t going to be available in North America for sure. Moreover, the 2018 Suzuki Xbee will hit the Japanese dealerships only. The rest of the world can expect it sometime next year, but that’s not confirmed at the moment. So, you probably want to know what’s so special about the model. Well, it’s crossover, of course. It’s also very small, and what’s very important, it’s a hybrid. The mini SUV has been previewed in the concept form a few months ago at the last Tokyo Motor Show, so we know pretty much everything about it.
The subcompact crossover is using a mild hybrid powertrain, which connects a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine with a mild electric assistance. The 2018 Suzuki Xbee uses a six-speed automatic transmission only, yet the potential buyers will be able to choose between front- and all-wheel-drive systems. The interesting toy is lifted enough to go off the road and while it’s there, the vehicle can use a few driving-, or better to say off-road assistance. The diver can use a special grip control setting, which adjusts throttle and braking response for mud conditions. The crossover also hosts hill descent control, as well as the amazing snow mode, which make SUV’s traction more aggressive in order to avoid spinning on a slippery road.
Extra Space and Amazing Paints
Suzuki’s new SUV offers a range of two-tone color schemes for the exterior. Though, our favorite option combines a Rush Yellow body and black roof. The rugged and boxy look should enable enough space inside. Moreover, the carmaker claims that the 2018 Suzuki Xbee will provide more than enough space for all five passengers, while the overall cargo can be additionally boosted with folded rear seats and front passenger seat. The prototype you see is using LED headlights, but they are optional.
Like we said, the 2018 Xbee SUV isn’t going to be available in the U.S. But in case you want to know the price, it’s going to start at around $15,500, while the vanilla flavor should be around $19,000.
