2018 Volvo XC60: This Is New

Yes, our photographers caught some parts of the cab, so we know what to expect inside. Judging by the spy shots, the 2018 XC60 will likely feature pretty the same center console as the bigger XC90, while the new console display appears to be identical to the S90’s. The upright display works ideally for the navigation system, so the carmaker will likely outfit most of the future models with the similar functions. In any case, the testing model also sports completely new air conditioning vents, which are significantly bigger than earlier. The next generation Volvo XC60 will also get an amazing safety kit that will make it very safe and reliable. The manufacturer will likely add an outstanding IntelliSafe, as well as the autonomous driving technology features, which will enable the SUV to drive itself in city traffic. The exterior is still heavily camouflaged, but we have found out some of the new details. Reportedly, the 2018 Volvo XC60 is getting the XC90’s lightening cluster, as well as a bit more aggressive overall bodywork.

Engines and Platform

Like we said before, Volvo’s bestselling SUV will definitely move on the impressive Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) modular platform that’s very flexible, stretchable and supports a range of engine options. Speaking of which, the new model might keep its current turbocharged 2.0-liter engine to power the base trim, while the T6 turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter engine should be the better and more powerful option. Both options will feature very impressive amount of power, which is estimated to be around 240 hp for the old T5 and 300 or even more for the T6. The Swedish car manufacturer will also add a hybrid and plug in hybrid drivetrain, but we still don’t know anything more about this matter. In any case, all engines will be paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission, as well as the standard front- and optional AWD.

There is nothing official regarding the arrival and price, but you can expect to see the all-new 2018 Volvo XC60 sometime next year with the base price of around $42,000.
