2018 VW Teramont Spied Ahead Its Los Angeles Debut (First Video)

We already knew that Volkswagen plans to introduce the all-new three-row crossover, and we already saw several testing models, but now we’ve found out the actual name of the upcoming SUV. According to our insiders, the North American drivers will be able to buy the 2018 VW Teramont very soon, because the German car manufacturer has an intention to introduce it at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

2018 VW Teramont Looks Like The CrossBlue

Judging by the latest spy shots, Volkswagen’s new three-row crossover will be ready very soon. The testing vehicle covers just the front and rear ends, while the rest of the body stays bare. Our first impression is that there will be lots of CrossBlue details. The influence is so obvious, due the boxy body that shares plenty of tweaks with the concept. Like we sad, the front end are still covered, but it’s pretty clear that the 2018 Volkswagen Teramont features CrossBlue’s fascia with distinctive grille.

The interior isn’t completely visible, yet we saw a really large navigation touchscreen and rather clean dash design. As for the rest of the cab, we are absolutely positive it will have three rows and seven seats.

Engines

Under the hood, the 2018 Teramont SUV will definitely have a powerful drivetrain. The most likely option is Passat’s 3.6-liter engine, which currently delivers 280 horsepower, but it should be boosted on 300 HP. In addition, the carmaker could offer a new 2.0-liter turbo four, as well as some kind of a plug-in hybrid setup. The future crossover has rather familiar MQB bones, so there will be no any big surprises. It’s quite clear that the engines will be matted to the standard front- and optional 4Motion all-wheel drive, and a six-speed automatic transmission.

Price and Arrival

Like we said, Volkswagen will bring the 2018 Teramont at the upcoming LA auto show, while it will be produced in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The actual price is unknown at the moment, but we expect to start very low at about $30K.

Updated 09/17/2016:We already announced the arrival of Volkswagen’s all-new three-row crossover, which should be named “Teramont”, and we already hinted what engine options could get. However, the information was unconfirmed until today, because the carmaker decided to reveal some of the details. No, we still can’t say it will be the 2018 VW Teramont for sure, but we definitely know what will be options under the hood. According to the manufacturer, the new three-row SUV will offer a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with 238 horsepower and a bit more powerful 3.6-liter mill, which will deliver 280 horsepower. While carmaker hasn’t said anything regarding the hybrid options, we are absolutely positive about it, yet we can’t say anything more closes about this matter.
