This isn’t the first time we see a prototype of the new generation Chevrolet Silverado 1500, but this particular vehicle shows something, well something, that changes the rules without any doubt. At the first glance, the spy shots don’t indicate anything special, but a little bit closer, and you will notice a totally uncommon exhaust tip design. Yep, this is almost definitely the prototype of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Diesel, and yes, we are sure that there is the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Diesel somewhere behind the corner.
In case you haven’t noticed, this prototype features round exhaust tips, which wasn’t the case until now. No, the gasoline model had and will have rectangular dual rear outlets, so yes, we sure that we are looking at the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Diesel. The interesting pickup truck will almost definitely use a V-6 diesel mill. It will be either the 3.0 or a 3.5-liter oil burner, which will be able to pump out at least 250horsepwoer and up to 400 pound-feet of torque. The engine should be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, yet the all-new 10-speed auto gearbox might be available as well. Of course, the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Diesel will get the same powertrain.
We have to admit that the cladding totally hides the 2019 Silverado 1500 Diesel, so we can’t say how it will look the oil-burner. On the other hand, since we know it’s going to use light-weight architecture, the pickup truck will definitely have an impressive fuel economy.
Speaking of the efficiency, some reports suggest that the manufacturers are also working on and advanced hybrid model as well. This will definitely make the new generation Sierra 1500 and Silverado 1500 very interesting.
