Chevrolet’s new-generation Silverado half-ton truck will have a sporty trim. The car manufacturer confirmed that when the regular model arrived at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show in January. Still, we haven’t seen the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado RST until today, so we were not able to figure out how good or bad the special trim level is going to be.
A prototype of the 2019 Silverado RST has been spotted without any camouflage at road test. The sporty pickup truck appears to feature some special styling cues, which makes it quite handsome. The workhorse is paired with unique 22-inch wheels and body color trim. Exterior lightening is full-LED, while tailgate hosts RST badge.
The gorgeous sporty trim will, just the regular Silverado, cut 450 pounds by using plenty of aluminum and advanced steel. Plus, the bodywork is increased by 3.9 inches, while the distance between wheels benefits from 1.6 additional inches. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado RST will offer a bit wider bed as well, though we expect a standard power tailgate feature. The 4×4 sticker indicates that the workhorse is going to use the four-wheel-drive system only. Around back, the bumper hosts a GM performance exhaust which will enable a few additional ponies under the hood. The pickup truck will use a magnetorheological suspension, while the big wheels should be fitted with six-piston Brembo front brake calipers.
We’ve said that the special exhaust layout could bring some additional power. Well, if that happens the pickup will offer more power, though the increase can be minor. The engines will, on the other hand, mirror the existing, so you can expect 6.2-liter LT1 V8 and 5.3-liter V8 mills, as well as a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard “dynamic fuel management”. Chevrolet could also add an optional 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six engine sometime later.
Since it has been spied without any camouflage, the 2019 Chevy Silverado RST should be introduced soon. The vehicle will most likely hit dealerships across North America this fall.
