A Wrangler-based pickup truck has been spotted testing again. However, it’s far more interesting the fact that the producer made this road test just a few hours after Jeep Scrambler Forum released renderings of the upcoming pickup truck. Unfortunately, the camouflaged prototype of the 2019 Jeep Scrambler is covered so well so we can’t really compare it with the renderings.
As for the Jeep Scrambler Forum images, they reveal an interesting exterior design, which has a lot in common with the SUV sibling. There are some tiny differences of course, but basically, the mid-size pickup truck is looking just the same as the four-door Wrangler (with a bed around the back of course) Jeep hasn’t made the “Scrambler” name official, but the rendered model hosts the nameplate on several spots. In addition, they’ve used four classic colors: Sarge Green, Hella Yella, Sting-Gray and Firecracker Red. We personally prefer the yellow option. Even though no one saw the 2019 Scrambler inside the vehicle will probably mirror the Wrangler in there as well. Jeep will not skip the chance to implement SUV’s attractive dashboard and circular air vents, as well as the same infotainment touchscreen.
The truck will probably host Wrangler’s engine options too. The mid-size pickup will not miss the chance to offer an all-new and amazing turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 engine coupled with a mild technology. The mill will probably deliver an unchanged amount of power, which is 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet torque. The tire smoke will also come of the familiar 3.6-liter V-6 with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft, while the carmaker may also reconsider a diesel or even a plug-in hybrid option sometime later. A ladder frame chassis and solid axles in pair with coil springs will be Scrambler’s strongest card for off-roading.
If the 2019 Jeep Scrambler doesn’t arrive at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, the manufacturer will definitely save the mid-size pickup truck for the 2019 Detroit Auto Show.
