The carmaker, or to be more precise, Canton plant from Mississippi has announced that they have been chosen to build the 2019 Nissan Frontier. No, they didn’t mention that the midsize workhorse is coming as the 2019 model, but we know it’s going to be ready before the end of 2018.
Since Nissan hasn’t provided any further information, we have to rely on rumors once again. According to the hottest one, the 2019 Frontier isn’t going to switch the existing platform with a new one. No, the truck will most likely keep the current, though updated. The improvements will have to enable a higher level of engine flexibility and better fuel economy. This might be a moment when the redesigned is getting more lightweight materials. Perhaps some aluminum parts, likely the cabin.
The 2019 Nissan Frontier won’t use today’s engines. No, both 2.5-liter four-cylinder and 4.0-liter V-6 will be replaced without any doubt. The biggest problem at the moment is the fact that we have no idea what’s actually cooking. The carmaker might try a new turbocharged, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder VC-T engine as a base, while a new 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine should be the topping option. The V6 is totally revamped and now delivers 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque. In addition, Nissan won’t skip the chance to add the 2019 Frontier Diesel as well. The oil-burner truck will reportedly use a 2.8-liter Cummins with 210 hp and 385 lb-ft of twist. A seven-speed dual clutch will stay the main option, but the buyers will get the chance to choose a 6-speed manual as well.
The mid-size truck will definitely receive an evolutionary redesign. Nissan will play safe for sure because the current model achieves god result and fans like the design, which is almost unchanged for 12 years. Of course, the 2019 model will host the latest technologies and better quality materials inside, as well as increased number of safety features.
There is nothing regarding the price at the moment, though we are sure it’s going to stay pretty affordable option.
