2019 Ram 1500 Quad Cab Mule Spied: The pickup will definitely improve towing and payload

It’s a fact that the new generation Ram 1500 comes sometime next year as the 2019 model, but the actual details of the upcoming redesign are still blurred. We managed to catch several testing mules until now, yet none of them showed anything specific. It’s the same with the latest 2019 Ram 1500 Quad Cab mule. The guys from Trucktrend.com managed to catch the pickup truck while it was doing some tests, but there is nothing new apart from a few characteristic details that give away the future vehicle.

2019 Ram 1500 Quad Cab: New Platform and Lighter Body

According to them, the 2019 Ram 1500 Quad Cab mule uses a new platform, which is a clear sign that the carmaker works on the new generation model. Moreover, they are pretty sure because the mule uses the 6-lug wheels, and this you won’t find with today’s model. We are really happy to see the 6-lug wheels. It’s not the only reason, yet this could mean that the new generation Ram 1500 may significantly increase its towing and payload capacities. A new platform will also make the upcoming pickup truck significantly lighter. We can’t tell you how many pounds the carmaker plans to shed from the 2019 Ram 1500, but we are pretty sure it won’t be as dramatic as it was when Ford introduced the all-new F-150 back in 2015. As you may notice, the testing mule sports camouflaged side and rear windows, but this is here to hide the new things inside.

Engine Options

Okay, we have to admit that at this point we don’t know much about the styling and platform of the 2019 Ram 1500 Quad Cab, yet we know what’s cooking under the hood. According to our insider, the manufacturer will keep the 3.6L Pentastar V-6 and the 3.0L EcoDiesel, but both options will be upgraded. The pickup will almost definitely lose the 5.7-liter HEMI, so we are looking forward to seeing the larger 6.4L Hemi V-8. Still, the biggest news is the arrival of a four-cylinder mill. If you remember, we managed to catch the prototype with its hood up. The model had some kind of four-cylinder mill, most likely the new and amazing 2.0-liter Hurricane. This is a small engine, but it’s capable of delivering up to 300 horsepower, which is more than enough power.

Arrival

The completely redesigned 2019 Ram 1500 will be introduced early next year, at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.
