Land Rover is definitely bringing back the two-door version of the iconic Range Rover. The SUV has been spotted camouflaged a few days ago, so the earlier rumors about the comeback turned out to be true. Who would think that the British carmaker has anything like this in mind? Still, they apparently want to go back to roots. Plus, the 2019 Range Rover Coupe will likely look a bit more attractive than the usual off-roader thanks to some new, softer styling cues.
On Styling
Although the prototype doesn’t really show what’s cooking because of the heavy camouflage, the idea is pretty clear. The manufacturer will likely make sleeker, coupe-like rooflines in order to make the SUV more attractive. In addition, the dynamics will be booted thanks to the lower bodywork, while the prototype appears to be a bit shorter from the original, four-door model. These are not going to be everything from the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Coupe. No, the new high-riding vehicle from Land Rover seems to feature a different, probably V-shaped grille, as well as LED daytime running lights just below the headlights. The rear end is totally camouflaged, so except two trapezoidal exhaust pipes, we can’t really see what’s going on.
Single Engine, But Two Outputs
There is nothing official regarding the powertrain of the future two-door Range Rover. However, according to the latest rumors, the coupe-like SUV will likely rely on a single powertrain. More precisely, it’s going to use the amazing supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine. Land Rover will probably offer two output options. The base model will be able to deliver around 510 horsepower, while the topping option should pump out all 550 ponies from the same mill. The engine will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Price and Arrival
One thing is pretty clear. The 2019 Range Rover Coupe will be positioned at the very top of Land Rover lineup, meaning it’s going to be a very expensive toy. Some reports suggest that the model may be priced over $250,000. Of course, the manufacturer won’t forget to add plenty of useful features, which will make it ultra-luxurious. Plus, even though it’s going to be a fancy-schmancy coupe-like two-door model, the SUV will still offer amazing off-road abilities without any doubt.
