With around 27,000 units sold in the first year of its existing and additional 30,000 sales this year, Volkswagen’s biggest SUV available turned out to be a quite promising investment, so it is not any wonder at all why the German automaker tries to offer the seven-seat Atlas SUV worldwide as soon as it’s possible. After its arrival in the United States last year, the manufacturer offered the same vehicle yet with a different name in China and Russia. This time, however, the Atlas which is called the 2019 Volkswagen Teramont in other markets has become available in the Middle East, too.
Even though it wears the different nameplate the 2019 VW Teramont is totally the same vehicle as the Atlas. Moreover, this Middle East version will also be produced in Chattanooga, Tennessee, so there are no any essential differences.
Volkswagen hopes that the Middle East customers can find the SUV as a very attractive offer as it delivers the large interior space and the latest technologies, and on the other hand, it’s not too expensive. The SUV measures exactly 5,037 mm in length, 1, 979 mm in width and 1,768 mm in height, while with the 2nd and 3rd rows folded down, the Teramont has 96.8 cubic feet of cargo space, which is more than enough. It offers a range of standard options including Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connectivity, VW’s amazing Digital Cockpit, as well as Fender Premium Audio System. Standard safety features are going to be Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Traffic Alert, and Lane Departure Warning.
The 2019 Volkswagen Teramont will have two available engines. The seven-seat SUV offers a pretty familiar 3.6-liter VR6 engine that’s going to produce exactly 276 horsepower. In case the potential customer doesn’t need the V6 unit it can look for a 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injection TSI four-cylinder with 235 horsepower. Both options are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which powers either the standard front-wheel-drive or optional 4Motion all-wheel drive.
