2020 Alpina XB7 Spy Shots And Performance Details

It is not any secret at all that Alpina has been working on an X7-based model. So far, however, we’ve seen just the diesel-powered testing prototypes of so-called XD7 version of the SUV, for which we know it’s not going to be available in North America. The overseas oil-burner will reportedly get an improved 3.0-liter inline-six diesel with almost 450 hp. Of course, in addition to about 50 horses extra, the Alpina-tuned X7 gets special kit too.

Today, our photographers managed to catch a gasoline-based model as well. The awesome SUV will most definitely be sold in the U.S. as the 2020 Alpina XB7. Even though we haven’t seen what’s cooking under the hood, it’s quite clear that awesome vehicle gets pretty much the same powertrain like the B7. Meaning, the high-riding high-performance machinery is going to use a 4.4-liter V-8 with new intercooler and turbos. The mighty mill will deliver 600 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, which is 77 hp and 37 lb-ft more when compared to the X7 M50i’s drivetrain. Except for the extra horses, the SUV gets better responsiveness too. While the standard BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive remains untouched, the familiar ZF eight-speed automatic transmission will undergo certain improvements.  Also, this beast of the SUV is going to come coupled with a lowered air-suspension setup and bigger brakes. According to our sources, the 2020 Alpina XB7 will be able to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds, while top speed should be topped to 205 mph.

Since we are dealing with an Alpina-tuned model, there are going to be a few styling touched inside and out which are usual for the tuning company. First of all, the SUV will be coupled with a variable exhaust system that uses quad tailpipes. In addition, the 2020 Alpina XB7 will ride on oversized multispoke wheels, while the front end shows deeper front splitter. Around back, the car gets a new diffuser and all-new rear spoiler, while the prototype also shows new side skirts too. The Alpina-treated SUV will most definitely be offered in two colors – green and blue. Inside, we largely expect to see some luxurious treatment in the form of unique wood and the finest leather.

According to our insiders, the 2020 Alpina XB7 will be introduced this year in Frankfurt and we bet that the SUV is going to cost around $130K.
