2020 Audi Q7 Spied Again: Updated SUV Shows Q8-Inspired Cabin

A prototype of the 2020 Audi Q7 has been spied testing yet again. The crossover SUV is definitely getting a mid-cycle update that will not bring too many new details from the outside. Things are going to be totally opposite inside, though. Yes, this time, the prototype has been caught inside as well, so we know what’s cooking.

2020 Audi Q7 new dash

Inside, the refreshed 2020 Q7 is not going to have its familiar dashboard design. Instead of it, the crossover will feature a more advanced styling which will be borrowed from the new Q8. More precisely, the old center stack will be replaced by a pair of screens which are going to have MMI touch response-ability. Of course, the automaker will update the existing infotainment system, while you can also expect a voice activation feature as a standard part of the new kit. A head-up display, ambient lighting, and MMI navigation will also be standard parts of the refreshed Audi Q7. On the other hand, the digital instrument cluster seems to be carried over for now.

What you can’t see here, but it’s definitely coming is a more advanced safety equipment. The base list should include adaptive cruise assist, efficiency assist, crossing assist, lane change warning, curb warning and a 360-degree camera. Plus, Audi will raise a level of comfort for sure. Unofficially, the updated SUV will have up to seven driving modes to play with, and all of them will alter the throttle response, suspension, and handling. That carmaker will make this happening thanks to a range of new electronics and because of the new and brilliant air suspension. We can’t skip without mentioning that the adaptive air suspension is going to be able to raise the car by 1.96 inches, so the driver can go off-roading without any problems.

2020 Audi Q7 refresh rear

Like we said already, the exterior changes are limited to SUV’s ends. But that’s always the case when automakers do a mid-cycle refresh. This camouflaged prototype already reveals refreshed headlights and taillights. The rear end also gets a new tailgate design with a horizontal strip which is going to be borrowed from the new A6 Avant. Up front, the SUV will most probably have an updated grille and perhaps new air intake design. Of course, Audi will not skip the chance to add a few new color options.

Today’s U.S.-specs Audi Q7 comes with two engine options. The base model uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 that’s rated at 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. That is enough to move the SUV from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.1 seconds. The more potent SUV is fitted with a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 that pumps out 333 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. By using the V6 the Q7 makes a 0-60 mph sprint in 5.7 seconds. Both options are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

For the updated 2020 Q7, the automaker will most probably try to squeeze off more power from both units. Still, that’s not going to be everything that’s coming. According to our insider, the manufacturer will finally introduce a plug-in hybrid Q7 e-tron, while we should also see the sporty SQ7 in North America. Unofficially, the 2020 Audi SQ7 will be paired with an awesome 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 mill. The option has been available under the hood of the RS 5 already, so we know it’s capable of delivering 450 horsepower at most.
