The Bavarian car manufacturer is definitely working on the redesigned 2020 BMW X6. The coupe-SUV has been spied camouflaged a few days ago near BMW’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. Still, we are not completely sure are we dealing with the regular or with some kind of new-gen “M” model. We think it’s the M Sport Package due to the prototype’s blue multi-piston calipers and aggressive front bumper. It might also be just some kind of testing mule coupled for the test only.

In any case, the testing model wears quite thin camouflage, so it’s not hard at all to figure out what’s cooking beneath. BMW’s popular coupe-SUV is featuring pretty familiar design cues. That’s because new exterior styling largely mirrors the new X4, which means that the new-gen BMW X6 is going to look a lot softer than before. Plus, the rear end is totally different, thanks to the roof which is dropping down slightly earlier than before. The new grille and headlights appear to be borrowed from the new X5, while the new bumper gets smaller grilles than BMW’s popular mid-size SUV. Compared to its predecessor, the 2020 BMW X6 gets slimmer taillights. Below, the SUV hosts chromed and squared exhaust pipes.
We think we know what’s going to power the redesigned coupe-SUV from BMW. That’s because most of the options are going to be borrowed from the new X5. Meaning, the entry-level 2020 X6 will get a straight-six engine that produces 335 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of twist. The V8 model will be able to create a more respectable output of 456 hp and 479 lb-ft of grunt. Both will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission which will send power to rear- or all-wheel-drive system.
Since it’s going to offer pretty much the same interior as the new X5 you can expect to see BMW Live Cockpit Professional inside of the 2020 BMW X6. The coupe-SUV will also host a wireless charging, a cooled and heated cup holder, and ambient lighting. Bowers & Wilkins Diamond 3D surround sound system will be a standard part of the vehicle, too.
The all-new G06 X6 will be unveiled sometime next year. Still, it’s not going to become available before either late 2019 or early 2020.
