2020 Cadillac Escalade Will Get Revolutionary Design, A Console-Mounted Shifter, Dynamic Fuel Management, And More

We think we’ve found out something new that regards the redesigned 2020 Cadillac Escalade. Even though the automaker decided not to reveal anything about its large SUV on a recent dealer meeting in Las Vegas, several dealers decided to tickle our imagination with a few juicy details, so to say.

According to them, the 2020 Escalade is going to receive an evolutionary redesign. But that’s not anything surprising at all. The SUV, on the other hand, is going to get a totally new interior design with a console-mounted shifter for the first time. They didn’t want to reveal any other detail regarding the cabin, but they’ve said that the Escalade looks gorgeous from the inside. As the new-gen model receives an independent rear suspension for the first time, we believe that rear seats are finally getting a fold-flat design. Plus, all passengers will definitely feel an additional dose of comfort thanks to the suspension.

With the partly revealed interior and totally camouflaged exterior we can only hope that the SUV is going to look better from its predecessor and its biggest rivals from the same segment. On the other hand, some earlier rumors about three engine options under the hood of the 2020 Cadillac Escalade fall after the dealers talk as all of them claim that the successor of the full-size SUV is going to use exactly the same powertrain as it uses now. Meaning, the carmaker will continue to offer a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The mill will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard front- and optional all-wheel-drive. We think that the automaker plans to boost SUV’s efficiency with Dynamic Fuel Management. The DFM system controls a number of active cylinders in particular situations and thus saves fuel. Chevrolet introduced the feature with the new Silverado pickup truck, so we saw already what the system can do. Believe it or no, it can shut off up to seven cylinders at once and the car will still run without any problems.

The dealers didn’t want or know to say when the redesigned luxury full-size is going to arrive, but we can bet that the official debut is not going to happen before late 2019. Meaning, the 2020 Cadillac Escalade will most likely hit the dealerships in early 2020.
