2020 Cadillac XT6 Three-Row SUV Spotted Testing

We have announced that Caddy reconsiders to add the all-new three-row crossover about a year ago. Today, however, the SUV has been spied while it was checking out its road abilities. The camouflaged vehicle you see right now is the 2020 Cadillac XT6. Even though it’s totally wrapped, the testing prototype shows what the carmaker’s idea is.

The XT6 will ride on GM’s popular C1XX platform. There’s nothing wrong with the architecture, but we were expecting something, well, more exotic. Chances for Escalade’s body-on-frame platform were none, though the carmaker could reconsider the possibility to add the rear-wheel-drive Omega platform which is in charge of the CT6. Thus, the seven-seat crossover could get the chance to use sedan’s awesome 4.2-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine. C1XX bones are, on the other hand, unable to support the option, so the vanilla model will probably rely on a twin-turbocharged V-6. The unit will reportedly deliver over 400 horsepower under the hood of the most potent 2020 Cadillac XT6. The starting version of the SUV will host a 3.6-liter V6 engine that currently produces 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. The mill may get more power in the new future, so some reports indicate that the 2020 CT6 could get 335 ponies. We suppose that the SUV is going to use the all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmission regardless of the engine choice.

Cadillac’s three-row SUV will probably share a lot with the smaller XT5. These two will likely share the same grille and even lights, though everything else is going to be different. You probably see that the XT6 sits lower and has lowered rooflines. Moreover, the rooflines appear to be more dynamic even from the stylish Traverse. This is noticeable thanks to the faster rear window and a tailgate-mounted spoiler. Of course, the rear bumper features a pair of exhaust pipes. The XT6 and Traverse will, on the other hand, have pretty much the same measures. To be more precise, Caddy’s new three-row SUV should have exactly 204.3 inches in length just as the aforementioned Traverse and Buick’s interesting Enclave.

The long body will definitely enable enough space for all seven passengers. Still, it’s far more important to mention that the 2020 Cadillac XC6 is going to use carmaker’s latest technologies including Super Cruise and video-streaming rear-view mirror. We’ve skipped saying that the interesting top also sports a standard panoramic glass roof.

According to the latest reports, the 2020 Cadillac XT6 will be introduced at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. However, the crossover will not become available before the next spring. There is nothing official regarding the price at the moment, but we assume that the luxury three-row crossover can’t cost less than $50,000.
