2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD Teaser Image and Spy Shots

Chevrolet’s new generation Silverado 1500 has been introduced early this year at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. Carmaker’s bestselling pickup truck is better, bigger, and lighter than the predecessor, so we expect to be even more popular. Though, this is not going to be everything, because the manufacturer currently works on the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD.

2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD teaser

The vehicle isn’t ready at the moment, but it will be by the beginning of the 2019 NAIAS. No matter how far the Detroit auto show seems, Chevrolet has released a teaser of the pickup truck already. Plus, we’ve seen some spy shots, so we think we know what’s cooking.

Judging by the teaser image, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD will get a completely new face. The all-new nose will host “Chevrolet” across the redesigned grille, while the new headlights appear to be pretty similar to the 1500 model, which is good because the sculpted and split design fits perfectly to the truck. The lights will feature LED treatment, of course. The hood will definitely be the most interesting part of the heavy-duty pickup thanks to a massive scoop.

The scoop is there in order to give the engine as much air as it will be possible because the 2020 Silverado HD is going to rely on a capable mill. According to our sources, the pickup will use provide two choices. The potential buyers will reportedly be able to choose between a Duramax diesel V-8 and gasoline V-8 engines. It’s highly possible that there will be no output changes at all, so the truck could get the same 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of twist form the 6.0-liter V8 gasoline and 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of grunt from the optional and simply amazing  6.6L Duramax L5P V-8.

No matter how good the new Silverado HD is going to look, the carmaker will need to uprate the trucks’ towing and payload capacities somehow in order to be competitive with the biggest rivals from Ram and Ford. Still, this is not going to be easy at all, especially if the carmaker doesn’t upgrade the engines. But again, Chevrolet will cut some pounds thanks to lightweight materials, which will definitely have a positive influence on everything, so let’s see what’s going to happen.

The 2020 Chevy Silverado HD won’t come alone of course. No, because GMC has to introduce the Sierra HD sibling together, so you can expect some shots or teasers of the GMC’s heavy-duty workhorse in the coming days.
