2020 Kia Seltos Small SUV Revealed

Kia’s new small SUV is not going to be named Tusker after all. Instead, the company decided to call the car which has been previewed by the SP Signature Concept earlier this year in Seoul the 2020 Kia Seltos. The new model, which will be sold globally, comes to fill the gap between the Kia Soul and the Kia Sportage. As you can see, the crossover looks quite interesting from the outside, while sketches revealed earlier this year promise a classy cabin too.

Just don’t expect anything revolutionary under the hood of the 2020 Kia Seltos. The crossover will most probably offer the same options as the Soul. More precisely, the entry-level model will get power from a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine that pumps out 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. A more potent Seltos will host a turbocharged 1.6-liter good for 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of twist. The turbo will likely use a dual clutch transmission, while the naturally aspirated mill should send power via a CVT. Both options will power front axle only, though the AWD model is probably in cards as well. There’s a really strong possibility of an electrified Seltos too. Still, this one won’t arrive right away, in the coming years.

As you can see, Kia’s new small SUV looks pretty good from the outside. The carmaker decided to treat the car with a gorgeous front end that shows a set of interesting headlights with silver surroundings which blend into the attractive black grille. The crossover rides on a quartet of attractive silver-black alloy wheels with red center caps, while the rear end reveals eye-catching taillights and a silver diffuser. Kia didn’t invent a two-tone exterior painting, but regardless of the fact, the “color-playing” seems interesting, don’t you think so?  Call it a hunch, though we think that this has to be some higher trim level of the new Kia SUV. Simply, there are too many good details to be the entry-point option.

The crossover will get dominant 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment that sits at the middle of the dashboard. There are air vents with metal surrounds at both ends of the dash, as well as a multifunctional steering wheel with heating option. Front seats are both ventilated and heated, while the car should feature the Sound Mood Lighting that adjusts ambient lighting according to the music played. The 2020 Seltos will have standard parking sensors and stop/start function.

Kia will unveil the small SUV in a few weeks. However, the car will not become available before fall, so stay tuned for pricing info.
