2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Spied With Less Camouflage

In contrast to the previous spy shots of the 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 which did not provide too many details thanks to the massive camouflage, the new prototype shows pretty much everything. This time the manufacturer hides just the ends, but it’s easy to figure out what’s beneath because the camo seems to be very thin.

The high-performance SUV shows the Panamericana grille in the front of course. There’s also a pair of attractive headlights which have been coupled with some LED elements. Since it’ going to use a mighty powertrain, the SUV needs to take a good breath of air, so to say. Though, that’s not going to be a problem at all thanks to the massive air intakes in both corners. Compared to the regular GLE which hosts the round and clean design the vanilla version gets a bit wider and lower bodywork, which makes it a bit aggressive and mightier. Still, unlike the predecessor, the new-gen GLE 63 definitely features a rounder shape all the way to the C-pillar. In the back, the crossover sports quad exhaust layout with AMG’s usual rectangular design, as well as a pair of attractive taillights.

The automaker will definitely replace today’s 5.5-liter unit. The redesigned SUV will host a downsized mill, but that’s not going to be a problem at all since the impressive 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 is going to deliver more power. Unofficially, the new V8 will pump out a whopping output of exactly 612 horsepower. Is this too much for you? Well, that’s okay, because the manufacturer has a plan to add a less potent version, which is going to use the new straight-six engine. According to our insiders, the model will be named the GLE 53 and it’s going to produce 435 horsepower. Both options will be paired with a 9G-Tronic gearbox, AMG-tuned AWD, air suspension and most likely all-wheel steering.

Judging by the spy shots, there’s not too much job to be done, so the all-new 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 may hit the dealerships sooner than we thought. More precisely, the SUV will probably be introduced in the first quarter of the next year, so it should become available next summer.
