2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC Spotted Refreshed


Mercedes has lots of interesting projects for the upcoming years. Aside the German car manufacturer works on fuel-cell and electric technologies which are going to become available across the complete lineup it is also trying to keep the existing options fresh and interesting. Take the GLC for an example. The SUV arrived in 2015 as a 2016 model, so it’s still pretty fresh. Still, regardless of the fact, the carmaker is working on a mid-cycle update right now. The first testing prototype has been spotted a few hours ago. However, it’s important to know that the production version of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC won’t be introduced this year, but in the second half of 2019.

Exterior and Interior Changes

Regarding the caught testing model, well, it’s still in early phase of development, so it’s pretty hard to figure out what’s actually cooking beneath the camouflage. As far as we’ve can see, there are some mirror changes of the grille and headlights. Though, the carmaker won’t skip the chance to add new daytime running lights and updated front bumper as well. Around back, the updated 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC will likely host new taillights and a revised bumper with new exhaust pipe layout.

The cabin will be fitted with an updated infotainment system. Still, the 2020 GLC is not getting a new and amazing dual-screen system this time. The feature is reserved for totally redesigned models only. The refreshed GLC will, one the other hand, get a large screen at the top of the center stack. The steering wheel will also host some new functions, while the center console hosts a new touchpad.

Engine Update

Under the hood, the 2020 Mercedes GLC will use a familiar 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 unit. However, instead of today’s 241 horsepower the mill will deliver 255 horsepower. AMG department will also add an updated version of the existing 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6. The existing 362 ponies will be boosted for 23 more, so the overall output should be 385 horsepower. This mill will power the updated GLC43 of course.
