2021 Hyundai Tucson Crossover Seems To Be Getting A Revolutionary Redesign

When it comes to the crossover SUV market, Hyundai is definitely in a rush. The Korean car brand recognized all potential of high-riding cars on time and made a few jackpots in the past 12 months. In case you’ve overslept the time, then you need to see the manufacturer’s all-new and king-sized Palisade SUV and an ultra-small yet an ultra-awesome Kona crossover.

These two are really something, but we have to say that Hyundai has several stones in the shoe so-to-say, which need to be overhauled from the ground up. The first on that list appears to be a not-so-long updated Tucson. The model achieves really poor sale results lately, which is a clear sign that it has to offer something new and better. That’s why the Korean company started working on a new-gen version for which we believe it’s going to be introduced at some point next year as the 2021 Hyundai Tucson.

Since we are looking at a totally camouflaged prototype it’s still pretty hard to say what’s going on at the moment. Still, regardless of the fact, it’s pretty clear that the automaker plays on big with the successor. More precisely, the 2021 Tucson will show a revolutionary design when it arrives next year.

Upfront, the testing model hints an interesting cascading grille which has been borrowed from the Grandmaster concept. The outlandish crossover is also coupled with new headlights which are splitted on halves. As you can see, the main lights are repositioned quite low, while the LED daytime running lamps look pretty sharp and slime, and connected with the grille. In addition to the interesting elements, it’s highly important to say that the SUV seems to be getting a sharper hood design too. As a matter of fact, the successor brings more aerodynamics from both sides.  It’s hard to say what’s happening in the back right now, though we think that the 2021 Hyundai Tucson gets a more aggressive bumper and new taillights. The taillights will trade the usual horizontal layout for some vertically-oriented styling cues.

The SUV will ride on a new platform too. According to our sources, the next-gen Tucson will share its underpinning with the Santa Cruz pickup truck. These two should use the same powertrains as well. Meaning, you can expect both naturally aspirated and turbocharged 2.5-liter Theta3 engines for the U.S.-spec model. The options will most definitely come paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while both front- and all-wheel drive configurations should be available. Also, the carmaker could give a try with some electrified model a little bit later, but we have nothing more precise about it at the moment, so stay tuned for updates.
