2021 Volkswagen Tarek New Small SUV For America

Personally, we would not mind seeing the overseas T-Roc compact crossover here in North America. Moreover, this seems like a more logical solution than a completely new nameplate. However, Volkswagen decided to add another new crossover to the existing fleet in the United States. The SUV will reportedly be ready to make its official debut before the end of the next year.

This new SUV will have a compact footprint and seats for five passengers. It’s going to be produced at VW’s existing plant in Pueblo, Mexico and will be available in Argentina too.

According to the manufacturer, the crossover which will be named the 2021 Volkswagen Tarek will slot right behind the Tiguan. Basically, the Tarek will look pretty much identical as the Tharu SUV launched earlier this year in China and Russia. In addition to quite an attractive exterior design, the new vehicle will deliver enough space inside thanks to its 105 inches of wheelbase. More precisely, the car will provide around 16 cubic feet of cargo space. The room jumps to 54 cubic feet with the rear bench folded flat.

The new crossover will get a small, yet efficient option under the hood. As far as we’ve heard, the 2021 Volkswagen Tarek will use a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine capable of producing 148 horsepower. The unit will supply the front axle through a six-speed automatic transmission. The carmaker didn’t want to reveal is there going to be an available all-wheel-drive system or some additional engine option, or how much is going to cost the new compact crossover, so stay tuned for updates.
