For those who don’t know, Lynk & Co is a Chines car manufacturer that is targeting a dramatic expansion in near future. They have a plan to introduce two all-new models a year until 2020 and six in total by the end of 2020. The automaker intends to sell its cars not just home, but also in Europe and eventually in the U.S. So far, we knew that they are building the 01 SUV and a so-called 02 which is basically a smaller crossover, as well as a 03 sedan. This prototype, however, doesn’t fit anywhere, so we think it might be Lynk & Co 05 SUV. Why not 04? Well, the number has been reserved for manufacturer’s hatchback.
This yet unnamed vehicle looks like some kind of a coupe version of the 01 SUV. The model for which we assume it’s’ going to be called the Lynk & Co 05 SUV features a quite familiar exterior styling. More precisely, it largely resembles the 01. The heavy camouflage still hides the details, but it’s obvious that the front end hosts carmaker’s distinctive design cues like the rectangular grille and headlights. The prototype also hosts door-mounted mirrors that mirror those on the 01. The rear end gets a totally different shape. The differences start with a more steeply raked roof and a boot lid and stop with the dual exhaust tips.
Since it sports a more aggressive roofline design, the Lynk & Co 05 coupe-SUV will probably offer less room inside when it’s compared with the 01 model. On the other hand, everything else should be pretty much identical, so you can expect a minimalistic dashboard along with a 10.2-inch digital instrument display.
Under the hood, the 05 coupe-SUV will most probably use a 190-hp 2.0-liter engine that’s mated to a seven-speed dual clutch. The automaker may also introduce a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, as well as the fully-electric model in a few years.
