Refreshed GMC Acadia Spied Again: The SUV Shows New Grille and Headlights

The refreshed GMC Acadia isn’t going to be introduced this year. No, the SUV will arrive sometime in 2019, meaning it will hit the dealerships late next year as the 2020 Acadia. The popular three-row high-riding vehicle has been spotted testing already back in April. However, the prototype from April didn’t show too many new details. Moreover, the cladding has hidden pretty much everything. This time, on the other hand, the refreshed model doesn’t cover everything, so we are able to see both the completely new grille and redesigned headlights.

Aside it features a totally boxy shape the new grille is also coupled with a pair of horizontal slats that create three mesh-treated sections. The new front end hosts a set of new, slimmer, and angular headlights, as well as redesigned fog lamps. Around back, the updated SUV is receiving new taillights which are mostly horizontal. All the way down, the refreshed GMC Acadia shows two rectangular exhaust pipes. The layout is typical for the topping Denali trim at the moment and we think it’s going to stay that way when the refreshed model arrives, so don’t expect the tips with the base 2020 Acadia.

It’s important to mention that the testing prototype hosts a sensor in the center of the grille. This detail is very important because that means that the mid-size crossover SUV is going to receive more advanced driver assistance features. The 2020 Acadia will definitely receive certain changes inside as well. In addition to an updated infotainment, the SUV will most likely get a slightly reshaped dashboard and new upholstery.

Under the hood, the refreshed GMC Acadia will keep things untouched. More precisely, the potential buyers will be able to choose between a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a 3.6-liter V6. The base mill will develop 194 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque, while the V6 comes with 310 hp and 270 lb-ft of twist. Both engines are paired with a six-speed auto gearbox, but the potential drivers are able to pick an optional and more efficient nine-speed transmission.
