Rivian is definitely bringing its electric pickup truck to the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. The workhorse will be unveiled on November 26th, but the automaker released an interesting teaser video ahead of the debut. In addition to the Rivian R1T electric pickup truck, the American startup car company will also introduce its all-electric SUV in LA.
Regarding the truck, well, according to earlier reports, the vehicle will be offered in two powertrain configurations. The entry-level R1T model will use just one electric motor for each axle and an 80 kWh battery pack. The system will enable a respectable driving range of about 200 miles on a single charge. Unofficially, the base model will be priced at around $50,000.
The high-performance Rivian R1T pickup truck will have a quartet of electric motors (two per each axle) and will reportedly be capable to cross 450 miles before new recharging. Naturally, the topper will use a significantly larger battery. The latest reports claim that the vehicle is going to squeeze off 800 horsepower from its electric motors. This will probably make the pickup truck the fastest ever. Unofficially, the model will take just 2.8 seconds to speed up from 0 to 60 mph. The vanilla truck will be significantly more expensive than the entry-level model of course. According to the latest rumors, the topping Rivian R1T will around $90,000.
The automaker hasn’t released any details so far, but we’ve found out that the model rides on a skateboard-style platform and with the battery placed in the floor. The exact exterior design is still unknown, but we expect a pickup truck that resembles the Honda Ridgeline. The carmaker promises respectable off- and on-road performance and a comfortable cabin with five seating positions.
Like we said earlier, the automaker will introduce its seven-seat SUV as well. The model will be named the Rivian R1S and will probably offer the same powertrain choices as the truck. The electric SUV will be unveiled on November 27th.
