2016 Audi Q1 – The Small Crossover is Ready for Debut

Audi’s smallest crossover is almost ready, but according to the latest reports, the automaker has no intention to introduce it at the U.S. car market. Instead, the 2016 Audi Q1 is rumored to hit the European streets very soon, but if the super-small SUV eventually arrives in the North America, you must be ready to give up of around $25,000. At the first glance, the amount may look high, still since the Q1 offers some amazing features the price is fairly reasonable. Moreover, the small-crossover segment is the fastest growing and the most popular at the moment, so it looks like the Audi works on one very important model, which might become extremely popular in Europe.

2016 Audi Q1 Gets Aggressive Design

Since we already saw a completely camouflaged prototype, the exact exterior design is unknown, but nevertheless it is pretty clear that the 2016 Q1 gets some Audi’s distinctive styling cues. The future small SUV will probably look as the new Q5, but there should be more aggressive tweaks, and some expected details like a Singleframe grille and angular headlights. The 2016 Audi Q1 will ride on a next-generation, MQB platform, meaning it gets lightweight but rigid body, and also a big number of engine options. Inside, the mini SUV will definitely feature a higher quality from Fiat and Mini models, but don’t expect a luxurious setup.

2016 Audi Q1 with Plenty of Engines

Under the hood, the Q1 will get several great units. There will be a 1.4-liter gasoline and diesel engine. The first one will deliver between 125 and 150 horsepower, while the TDI mill gets 120 hp and 175 lb-ft of twist. The carmaker also works on the SQ1 model that will use a 2.0-liter engine with 230 horses, while we also expect a plug-in version as well. As for the transmission, you can expect a six-speed manual transmission or a seven speed dual-clutch gearbox, as well as the standard with front-wheel drive and an optional all-wheel.
