2016 Chevrolet Tahoe Gets Better Tech and Four-Star Safety System

The 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe came completely redesigned last year, but regardless the fact, the manufacturer has decided to do several improvements on the 2016 model. The changes won’t be visible, but still, this early update shows that the carmaker aims to offer the best possible full-size SUV at the moment. The 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe will feature exactly the same exterior design, but still, it will look better. This is because the vehicle changes two old colors (White Diamond Tricoat and Crystal Red Tintcoat) with two more sparkling options (Iridescent Pearl Tricoat and Siren Red Tintcoat).

2016 Chevrolet Tahoe Updates: Better Safety, But It Earns Just Four Stars

And while this is the only change on the exterior, the rugged SUV will get more evident updates inside. In place of the old integrated CD player, the carmaker will slip in an AM/FM stereo with CD player, while the SUV also gets a new and integrated SD card reader. The dash will receive couple new styling tweaks, and the new head-up display seems better that the old option. The manufactures worked on Tahoe’s safety as well. Driver Alert Package will be upgraded too, and in place of the Lane Departure Warning, the SUV gets Lane Keep Assist, which provides a help in emergency situations. The rest of standard safety features are seven airbags, a rearview camera, power-adjustable pedals, Safety alert seat, IntelliBeam headlamps and Forward Collision Alert. However, this improved Tahoe earned a four-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or more precisely – five stars in the front and side crash tests, and only three stars in the rollover crash test.

2016 Chevrolet Tahoe: Same Engine, Same Price

Chevrolet’s full size SUV won’t receive any change under the hood, so you won’t be able to choose anything but a usual 5.3-liter V8 engine that produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The drivetrain will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and rear or optional all-wheel-drive. Sometime later, the vehicle should get a new 8-speed gearbox, and possibly a new 6.2L EcoTec3 L86 V8 engine.

Except of two new colors, interior and safety updates, the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe won’t changes anything else, so don’t expect to change its current price as well. However, when the SUV gets a new engine and gearbox, you can expect a new, higher price.
