2016 Jeep Wrangler Gets Ram’s Ecodiesel and New Tech

The new generation Wrangler won’t arrive before 2017 as a 2018 model, but before that the carmaker plans to introduce the 2016 Jeep Wrangler, which will offer a diesel engine. Thus the body on frame SUV becomes more capable and more efficient, and at the same time gives the fans something until the arrival of the next-generation.

2016 Jeep Wrangler With Ram’s Ecodiesel?

The 2016 Jeep Wrangler will likely offer a 3.0-liter Ecodiesel V6 with 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. The engine had already shown that possesses the outstanding characteristics, so the fuel economy and abilities should be at a high level. In addition, the rumors say that the 2016 Wrangler finally gets an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. As you may know, the Ecodiesel engine is not a mystery for the U.S. drivers. The unit already works with the Ram1500 and Jeep Grand Cherokee, so it should be popular with the Wrangler too. On the other hand, the rugged SUV will continue to offer a 3.6L Pentastar V6, but instead of 5-speed automatic, there will be an eight-speed ZF, which automatically means better fuel economy numbers.

2016 Jeep Wrangler: Changes and Price

The SUV won’t receive a huge exterior makeover, but regardless the fact, there will be some new cosmetic details. The 2016 Wrangler will get a little bit different grille and fresh headlight surrounds, while the wheels have new 18-inch treatment. The interior will have the new upholstery, while there is some new equipment like a 6.5-inch touchscreen, UconnectTM GPS multimedia entertainment and satellite navigation system. Just don’t expect to see any aluminum parts on the 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The carmaker hasn’t decided whether the next-generation getting some alloy, so the 2016 model won’t have it for sure.

The hard-core off-road SUV will likely keep its current price for the base model, but we have no idea how much will cost the 2016 Jeep Wrangler diesel. In any case, you can expect a diesel-powered Wrangler debut either at the end of this or in early 2016 year.
