2016 Nissan Titan Gets A New 5.6-Liter Gasoline V8 Option. A V6 In The Works Too

Not much time passed since Nissan released the new and completely redesigned Titan XD pickup truck. This time, the cam manufacturer introduced a new, gasoline choice for those that will rather skip the oil-burner truck. It’s not that I have anything against the 2016 Nissan Titan XD and its mighty 5.0-liter Cummins turbo-diesel V-8, but I always chose a gasoline option. A new gasoline-fueled engine will share a 5.6-liter displacement with Nissan’s previous VK V-8 unit, but nothing more.

2016 Nissan Titan: New V8 Engine

Compared to the old 5.6-liter mill that delivers “just” 317 hp and 385 lb-ft, the 2016 Nisan Titan will get a new 5.6-L unit, which will be able to produce 73 horses and 16 lb-ft more. The final output of the all-new V-8 “Endurance” will be 390 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of twist. It’s not something to compare, but the diesel options delivers 310 horsepower. Anyway, the power comes largely thanks to the new technologies. Namely, the unit comes with direct fuel injection, variable valve timing and lift, and 11.2:1 compression ratio, so the half-ton pickup should be amazing on and off the road. The engine will be paired to a seven-speed that features Adaptive Shift Control and Downshift Rev Matching.

Twin-Turbo? Very Possible

According to the manufacturer, the 2016 Nissan Titan will offer one more V6 gasoline engine. They didn’t say which one, but we are absolutely positive that will be the new twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that can deliver astonishing power of 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque between 1600 and 5200 rpm. Still, we think that the new Titan will get a detuned version of the new V6.

The diesel powered Nissan Titan will hit the showrooms this month, while the V8 gasoline-powered pickup truck goes on sale in early spring 2016.
