2017 Cadillac XT5 gets amazing redesign and great features. Engines and Specs (updated)

Cadillac’s SRX SUV has been replaced by the all-new vehicle, and this could really shake up the sleeping fans of the carmaker. The new SUV will be introduced as the 2017 Cadillac XT5, and the first official pictures show that the designing team did a great job. In addition, the redesigned SRX or the all-new XT5 will make an impression of a completely new SUV that features new and bold exterior, modern interior and a wide range of engines.

2017 Cadillac XT5: Redesign and Features

The whole idea of an introducing this mid-size crossover SUV is to offer more interesting, sophisticated vehicle than it is now. By looking the first photos, the carmaker did a great job by making the exterior styling modeled after the new design language, which is originally applied to the CT6 sedan. This way, the new SUV gets a terrific front end with a huge yet distinctive grille and stylish vertically integrated LED headlights that create an aggressive front fascia. There are also a new and stylish bumper, and also very wide fenders and arches. By looking the profile, you must notice that there is a less sloping roofline, but on the other hand, elongated body. In the rear, the SUV shows its powerful stance and rectangular design, which is bordered with the redesigned taillights. Horizontally shaped exhaust pipes are also very nice detail. The manufacturer hides the interior design, but we know that there will be some new features like carmakers Super Cruise or even an autonomous driving system.

2017 Cadillac XT5: Engines and Price

The possible engines of the 2017 Cadillac XT5 are rather speculated, so we cannot guarantee you that this will be for sure. Still, the rumors say that the crossover SUV should offer a current but updated 3.6-liter V-6, as well as an all-new a turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6. Of course, the car manufacturer will surprise with one hybrid and maybe one plug-in hybrid drivetrain. In each case, the engines will be paired to the front- or all-wheel-drive.

The mid-size crossover category is one of the toughest car segments at the moment, so it is really hard to predict whether the 2017 Cadillac XT5 has any chance to become popular. However, the carmaker will probably try with the lower staring price, which could be under $40K.

Updated 11/11/2015: Cadillac has released full specifications on the 2017 XT5, so now we know everything about this new crossover. Compared to the SRX predecessor, the new SUV will have two inches longer wheelbase, but its length, width and height are slightly smaller. In addition, the 2017 Cadillac XT5 will be lighter for 278 pounds, which will be one of the main reasons of better fuel economy. The other reasons of higher MPGs will be a new 3.6-liter V-6 engine that comes with fantastic features such as Active Fuel Management, Cylinder Deactivation, Stop/Start technology as well as a new eight-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Precision Shift. The engine will deliver a powerful output of 310 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Although we thought earlier that the car could get a base 2.7-liter unit, the carmaker has decided to add a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder that also comes with Start/Stop capability.
