2017 Fiat 500X Abarth “Breathes Fire” From a 1.75-L Engine. It Could Feature Quite Interesting Design

We can’t really understand this surprising and abnormal popularity of compact crossovers, and moreover, we wonder what will stop this car revolution that threatens to grow into madness? Since the segment is getting even better performance-oriented sub-category, we afraid that there is no chance to see anything more popular soon. The new high-performance division started from Mercedes’ garage that released the GLA 45 AMG, which is really something. Right after that, Nissan unveiled Juke-R Nismo, while now we are looking into the all-new 2017 2017 Fiat 500X Abarth – the performance compact SUV that could change Fiat’s slow selling numbers into the pure profit.

2017 Fiat 500X Abarth Will Have Aggressive Styling and Better Equipment

The high-performance 500X is smartly hidden on this spy photos, but we can assure you that this is not the regular model. The testing mule may look like the standard 500X at the first glance, but the wheels and dual exhaust outlets say otherwise. However, since this is just the early prototype of the upcoming 2017 Fiat 500X Abarth, we expect to see some other tweaks like more aggressive styling, especially in the front end and “Abarth” lettering. The high-riding performance “player” will also feature sportier chassis and lowered suspension, while the front fascia would get larger air intakes for more powerful engine. The testing model will likely maintain those stylish wheels, which are actually “stolen” from the new Alfa Romeo 4C.

Compared to the standard model, the 2017 500X Abarth should get redesigned interior as well. The compact crossover will keep the identity, but there must be sporty feeling inside, starting from the different seats and more exclusive materials. In addition, the color options should be more interesting inside, while the instrument cluster might receive new treatment as well. There will be also a flat-bottom steering wheel and updated infotainment, while we expect to see better safety kit too.

Engine Specs and Price

Under the wild, wild hood, the 2017 Fiat 500X Abarth will once again have to steal from Alfa’s magnificent 4C model. It will be a small 1.75-liter engine, which will be detuned to develop around 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, which will be dispatched to all four wheels through available five-speed manual and six-speed auto gearboxes.

This Abarth-badged crossover is rumored to achieve 0-62 sprint below six seconds, but this unforgettable experience will cost more from the regular model. We say around $31,000.
