2017 GMC Granite — The Crossover That Exudes Future

According to topspeed.com, the U.S. market will get one more subcompact crossover. This is because General Motors filled an application for a new name – the GMC Granite. If you remember, the carmaker already used this name two times for concept vehicles (first time for the crossover and second for the pickup truck), so the biggest question is what will be the 2017 GMC Granite? Well, we believe that they will definitely go for the crossover, pretty similar to concept from 2010.

2017 GMC Granite: Styling and Platform

The exterior design of the concept vehicle got good critics back in 2010, so we assume that the 2017 GMC Granite should look pretty much the same. Of course, the styling will get less futuristic cues, but the compact C-segment model will continue to look modern and dynamic. The styling changes will bring a new grill design and the different LED headlights that will get vertical shape. Like every other new crossover from GM, the 2017 Granite will ride on a D2XX platform, which is lightweight and provide exceptional driving dynamics. And while the exterior should have lots of similar details, the interior won’t receive an amazing 2+2 seating design that was introduced with the concept model. The new concept crossover will get more Gamma II SUV-like layout that includes with five-passenger seating and soft-touch surfaces, along with plenty of tech and entertainment.

2017 GMC Granite: Engine Options and Transmission

There will be several engine options with the 2017 GMC Granite, but at this point we know one. A base version will come powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which will produce 138 HP and 148 lb-ft of torque, and also a wide rpm range with maximum torque that helps the engine deliver a surprisingly good driving experience and amazing performance. The engine will be paired to a six-speed automatic transmission RPO code and regular front wheels or optional all-wheel-drive.

GMC Granite: Arrival and Price

The arrival of the 2017 GMC Granite is scheduled for late 2016, while the price should not go over $21,000.
