2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Changes — Updated Truck Gets a New Transmission

There are not many pickups that can fight against Ram’s and Ford’s trucks. This carmakers possess two amazing pickup that own a big part of market. Still, there is a third member that could struggle with the F-150 and Ram 1500. It is GMC’s Sierra – the truck that will come updated very soon. According to the newest information, the pickup will be introduced in 2016, as the refreshed 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. The latest spy photos suggest that there won’t be too many changes on the design, but on the other hand, the 2017 Sierra 1500 will adopt a better powertrain with GM’s new 10-speed automatic transmission.

2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Design Changes

The updated Sierra truck will get some cosmetic and some essential changes on the exterior. The front end will feature the highest number of novelties, and there the pickup gets a new grille and reshaped headlights, which will adopt more LED and chrome details. In the front part, the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 also has new fenders and hood that are the same, but different. This is because they will be made of aluminum for the first time. Thus the pickup features better fuel economy and becomes even more competitive. The rear end won’t feature that complex changes as the front end. There will be the new taillamps and maybe some small cosmetic tweaks. The cab should be reworked as well, but we have no the details. In any case, the current Sierra has a new and outstanding infotainment, so we think that there won’t be big updates.

2017 GMC Sierra 1500: Engines and Transmission

The 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 will come with a current 6.2-liter V-8 engine with 420 HP and 450 lb-ft, and a little bit better fuel economy. The pickup truck will also offer a 5.3L EcoTec V8 engine that will produce 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of twist, which makes the vehicle capable to tow up to 11,000 pounds.
