2017 Kia Mohave (Borrego) in North America? Not This Time.

Kia’s last attempt to bring its large SUV to North America was back in 2009. If we remember, the vehicle was named Borrego and it didn’t last more than year in US. However, the Korean automaker didn’t give up from it, and the SUV known as the Mohave achieves pretty good sales in the rest of the world. Still, the model is eight years old, so it desperately needs to be completely redesigned. The manufacturer already works on it, and the we already seen the prototype, but we still don’t know will the producer try again in North America with the 2017 Kia Mohave (Borrego).

2017 Kia Mohave: Redesign Details

From our point of view, the 2017 Kia Mohave will do for the rest of the world, but not here. The carmaker would rather try with the SUV that will derive from Telluride Concept. In any case, the new Mohave features completely new look. The testing vehicle may be under camouflage, but we clearly see the new front end with redesigned grille, bumper and headlights. As for the bodywork, it isn’t too far from the current, except it looks a little bit more aggressive. Around back, the crossover sports new taillights and reworked hatch, while the bumper could also feature a new design. Inside, the large SUV could look more like the modern Sorento. This would be the great thing, because you will get the modern interior with more space and a higher level of comfort.

2017 Kia Mohave: Engine Options

The 2017 Mohave will offer a 3.0-liter turbo diesel V6 engine that will deliver around 260 horsepower and 256 lb-ft of twist. The car manufacturer may also add a 3.3-liter gasoline option, which can easily produce 290hp and 252lb-ft of torque.
