We were a little bit worried when Nissan left out its only true full-size SUV for this year, but the newest reports indicate that the car manufacturer actually plans to introduce the new generation largest SUV sometime this year. Although obviously resembles the Patrol model, this is supposedly the all-new and completely redesigned 2017 Nissan Armada.
2017 Nissan Armada: Platform “Issues”, Design and Features
However, no matter we believe this is the new generation Armada, we have to admit that there is a plenty of dilemmas in relation to the SUV. First of all, the information we have say that the 2017 Nissan Armada definitely continues to use a platform from the Titan pickup. This is not the problem under the normal circumstances, but when we look into the first photo, we must notice that there are not too big differences between the new Armada and the current Nissan Patrol. Except of some small cosmetic details on the front end, these two look pretty the same, and since the overseas Patrol uses SUV-based platform, how come that the car manufacturer decided to build the next generation Nissan Armada on pickup truck architecture? If you ask us, we are quite convinced that the producer will make no additional costs, so the all-new model will probably use the same underpinnings as the Patrol sibling. In addition, the interior styling is rumored to get nothing less than the equivalent treatment as the Infiniti’s QX80 SUV. This includes highly luxurious and soft touch materials, as well as really premium equipment like the top-notch infotainment and “serious” safety features.
2017 Nissan Armada Gets Strong Engine
As for the possible engine option, the 2017 Nissan Armada will reportedly get the same options as the new Infiniti QX80, so you could expect to see a large 5.6-liter V8 engine, which will be able to produce between 390 and 400 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of twist. The engine will be matted to a new seven-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive system, while the towing capacity could reach a maximum figure of 8,500 pounds.

The car manufacturer hasn’t say anything about this yet, so we have to stick the rumors for now. Speaking of which, the latest speculations indicate that the base 2017 Armada model should cost around $40,000.
