2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport and 2017 Ram Heavy Duty Night Edition Introduced in Windy City

Ram is currently firing the last bullets from the heaviest weapon. The new generation Ram 1500 is knocking on the door and will be ready before you know, but the car manufacturer decided to add two pretty unique editions for this year. The trucks have been introduced at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show and will be ready for sale by the end of the month. We can’t really decide which one is better, yet we must say that the carmaker made the right move when decided to introduce the 2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport and the 2017 Ram Heavy Duty Night edition. Both models are using the Ram 1500’s platform and unchanged engine options, but their styling and features are something that you can’t find on any former Ram pickup truck.

2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport: Styling and Performance

The 2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport is really something. It sports an amazing exterior design with the dominant hood. The carmaker made a pair of scoops on the hood, but they haven’t pushed too far with that and this is what we like the most. The truck is basically Sport-oriented, but it’s also very charming. There are two black decals above the scoops, which fits perfectly with the Copper Pearl color. You would find exactly the same grille at any kind of today’s Ram 1500, but this one features body-color treatment, which makes it more handsome. In addition, the carmaker has marked the pickup with black letters only. Yes, as you can see, there are black tailgate badge and black body-side badge. The truck also sports unique 20- or 22-inch alloy wheels.

We can’t really separate the interior from the exterior because they complement each other. The cab gets the outstanding bucket seats with some distinctive details such as Sport trim embroidery and Ram logo on the headrests. There is also a unique gauge cluster, while everything else stays unchanged. Well, everything except a standard nine-speaker Alpine sound system, which includes a subwoofer too.

The 2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport gets a single option under the hood. It uses a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 that pumps out 385 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of twist. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, while you can choose between 4×2 and 4×4.

Price and Sale

The car manufacturer decided to limit the sale of the 2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport to 3000 examples only. The sale starts very soon, most likely before the end of this month, while the price starts at $46,950.

2017 Ram Heavy Duty Night Edition: Specs and Details

Ram already offers the Night package with the 1500 model, so we are not too surprised with the 2017 Ram Heavy Duty Night edition that will be offered on 2500 and 3500 models. This trim is less sporty than the aforementioned pickup, but it’s still very handsome. It packs plenty of black details all around. As you may see, the all badges are black, which also refers on wheels and grille. You won’t find the advanced Alpine sound system inside, but there are adjustable heated vinyl bucket seats, automatic dual-zone climate control, and power-adjustable pedals.

The 2017 Ram Heavy Duty Night edition is offered in crew cab form only, but still, you can pick the engine that suits you best. Yes, in contrast to the Copper Sport that spots a sing engine, the Night edition offers a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8, a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8, or a 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel.

The starting price of the Heavy Duty Night package is $46,840. It’s also coming later this month.
