2018 BMW X2 M Spy Shots: The High-Performance Coupe SUV Gets 320 HP

BMW’s all-new X2 is one step until its official debut, so we were pretty sure that we know everything about the interesting crossover. Well, guess what? The Bavarian carmaker will not introduce the regular model alone. Instead, they are working on the 2018 BMW X2 M as well.

We know it’s M because:

The high-performance version of the X2 has been spied just a day ago on a car transporter. Even though it’s completely camouflaged, we are almost a hundred percent sure it’s the M model because it sports the M production design in the front. More precisely, it features multiple air intakes, which appear to be borrowed from the gorgeous M5. Plus, there is a specific kidney grille that won’t be a part of the regular model, as well as the M-based hood shape. The headlights are hidden, but this is not too important since the M model should share the angular lightening with the regular X2.

Uner the hood

As far as we know, the 2018 BMW X2 M will use a potent B48 2-liter unit. The engine is capable of delivering from 255 to 320 horsepower, and we are sure it’s going to pick the second output. Yes, the Bavarian car manufacturer plans to challenge Mercedes-AMG division, the GLA 45 AMG to be more precise, so it must offer the best possible option. Of course, the X2 M will use the same FWD platform as the regular model, yet it’s going to be mated to all-wheel drive system only.

It won’t be cheap at all

According to our insiders, the regular X2 coupe-like crossover will be introduced at this year’s Paris Motor Show. On the other hand, the 2018 BMW X2 M should make its official debut later at 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. The price is unknown at the moment, yet we think that the high-performance model won’t cost less than $45K.
