2018 BMW X5 Will Be Larger and More Dynamic

According to the latest reports, the next generation X5 won’t come in 2018, but sometime next year. We can’t explain this sudden move, because until now, the carmaker had always made the new gen model after seven years. This time, the testing model of the 2018 BMW X5 isn’t some early mule, but the real prototype. At the first glance, we thought this is the next X3, but judging by the proportions, this gotta be its bigger sibling. Moreover, the camouflaged SUV is even bigger form the current model, so we expect a little bit higher level of luxury and more space inside.

2018 BMW X5: What’s Changed

Even though the popular crossover came as an all-new model in 2013, the 2018 X5 will be totally redesigned. The camouflaged vehicle hints completely different exterior styling, which will be pretty similar to the next X3. The front end will definitely get more aerodynamics, while the new hood design seems quit smooth and more carlike. In addition, the headlights are also restyled, while the new grille appears to be integrated with the front bumper. Around back, the 2018 BMW X5 will likely get an all-new hatch with redesigned bumper and taillights.

Platform and Engine Options

The amazing vehicle will also change its architecture. In place of the current bones, which are pretty heavy, the new-gen X5 will get the the CLAR (cluster architecture) platform. Except of the steel and aluminum, the SUV will sport some carbon fiber and magnesium parts, which will shed some weight from the popular model. Of course, the platform will make it more rigid too, so the safety rating should go up as well.

Under the hood, the 2018 BMW X5 will feature a wide range of options stating from base four-bangers. However, the most interesting options will be the new plug-in hybrid and the X5 M model, which is speculated to be really impressive and powerful. The performance model is speculated to deliver at least 600 horsepower.
