2018 Buick Encore Refresh Leaks Ahead of 2016 New York Auto Show

Buick’s refreshed Encore crossover promises to be pretty nice piece of work. The tiny high-riding vehicle is getting ready to make its official debut at the upcoming 2016 New York Auto Show, and yet, one Chinese cite spoiled the surprise by publishing the first pictures. This fairly unexpected sneak preview of the updated 2018 Buick Encore definitely angered the car manufacturer but gladden rest of the world, because the facelifted subcompact crossover looks really outstanding.

2018 Buick Encore: Redesign Changes and Tech

The carmaker didn’t do anything spectacular and big, but the changes on the exterior styling are quite good. This especially refers to the front part of the crossover, which boasts pretty interesting look that includes an all-new grille without earlier waterfall treatment and totally different headlights, which are by the way brimmed with chrome. A little bit lower, the car gets a redesigned front bumper and new fog lights, and if you look down the body you will find new and stylish alloy wheels. The rear end isn’t too different from the current model, but still, there is a redesigned rear bumper. Inside, the 2018 Buick Encore may have some really great options. The cab will be embellished with certain visual changes and new features. The crossover would have a new steering wheel and a big touchscreen which will found its place in the center stack, while the entertainment features could be enriched with Apple CarPlay and Android.

2018 Buick Encore: Engines

The 2018 Encore crossover will likely continue to use the 1.4 EcoTec four-cylinder engine as a base option. The unit delivers pretty good output of around 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque, but if you need more power, you will be able to get a new 1.4-liter 4-cylinder turbo mill, which will produce 153hp and 177 lb-ft. However, the new engine will go just with the range-topping and more expensive 2018 Buick Encore Sport Touring. The crossover will once again offer a standard front-wheel and optional all-wheel drive, as well as the six-speed auto gearbox.
