2018 Dodge Durango Hellcat Or SRT: Either Way, It’s Good To Have Such A SUV

We have announced the arrival of the Hellcat-based Durango about half a year ago, yet today we managed to catch a prototype that seems to be some kind of Dodge’s high-performance SUV. However, we are not so sure whether they work on Hellcat or SRT SUV. According to Automotive News, it will be an SRT version, while the other reports suggest it’s a full-on Hellcat model without any doubt. If you ask, us we would rather see the 2018 Dodge Durango Hellcat. And, what’s more important, something points out Hellcat’s nature of the vehicle.

We think It’s The Hellcat Because:

As you can see, the testing model we managed to catch doesn’t reveal anything important. It’s just the current Durango with the covered front end. However, the guys that spied the SUV swear that they heard a Hellcat-like growl. Now, if you’ve ever heard Charger and Challenger Hellcats, you would definitely remember the sound of a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine. So, we believe that this is the 2018 Dodge Durango Hellcat, and yes we expect all 707 horsepower 650 lb-ft of torque.

If Not, Then:

If not, the amazing SRT SUV will get a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 that is capable of producing 475 horsepower. In either way, the engine will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Of course, the carmaker will have to add some extra details, such as a revamped suspension, larger brakes, and special shock absorbers. The suspension will definitely get some extra bracing in order to stiff the chassis.

As for the styling changes, the 2018 Durango Hellcat will likely feature a little bit more aggressive exterior details. The testing model hides the front end styling, which will get a restyled grille, bigger bumper, and definitely bigger air intakes. The new hood could have some bulges with scoop, while the new LED headlights should be redesigned as well.

According to the latest reports, the 2018 Dodge Durango Hellcat or SRT will be introduced at the 2017 New York Auto Show, so we will probably catch more testing models in the coming days, which will hopefully reveal which one model is coming.
