2018 Fiat 500XL: The All-New Compact Crossover Is Almost Ready


We just got some fresh information from Fiat. Our insider claims that the manufacturer works on the all-new crossover that will hit the compact segment. The all-new vehicle will be named the 2018 Fiat 500XL, which definitely means that it would be a little bit larger model that the subcompact 500X SUV.

The rumored vehicle isn’t too far away from the production line at all. Moreover, the camouflaged prototype is spotted a couple months ago, so we already know what to expect from it. In contrast to the smaller 500X model that irresistibly reminds on the iconic Fiat 500, the all-new 2018 Fiat 500XL is getting something completely different. The compact crossover will rather borrow some details from the Toro pickup truck, so we are expecting tougher look and more attractive front end, which combines attractive grille and headlights with bold and huge bumper. Overly, the bodywork will be more rounded and widened, so even though with the compact footprint, the crossover will make the impression of the powerful car. According to insider, the 500XL SUV will have pretty expected interior. Except of the usual big TFT display and head-up display, the manufacturer will add a three-spoke steering wheel and all-new upholstery, which might get a two-tone treatment.

Engines

The carmaker will load the 2017 500XL with a big number of engines. There will be a 1.4-liter MultiAir inline unit with 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, as well as a turbocharged 1.6-liter MultiAir engine that delivers 118hp and 240 lb-ft of twist. Fiat’s new compact crossover could also offer a 2.0-liter turbo unit, but the most interesting model will drive the 2.4-liter Chrysler Tigershark MultiAir option. The standard model will get a FWD, while you will be able to get the all-wheel drive model too. The engines will be matted to the six-speed manual or auto gearbox, as well as the optional nine-speed transmission.

Price
