Kia Telluride Concept has been introduced at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show two days ago, and by looking the footprint of the vehicle, the carmaker seems to work on its all-new full-size SUV. At the moment, Kia has no a true large SUV, except the Sorento, which is actually a class lower and can’t really make any damage any full-size SUV. On the other hand, the car manufacturer already announced the arrival of this kind car in the new luxury division, so as far as we know, this could become the 2018 Genesis SUV.

2018 Genesis SUV: Plugin-In Hybrid Powertrain
The 2018 Genesis SUV (or whatever will be named) will probably feature similar characteristic like the Kia Telluride Concept, which really sports plenty of production cues. Under the hood, the full-size SUV offers an interesting plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a 3.5-liter direct-injected engine with 270 horsepower and electric motor that works on the rear axle. Together, the drivetrain produces 400 horsepower and delivers 30 mpg on the highway in all-wheel-drive setup of course.

2018 Genesis SUV: Design and Specs
The new flagship Genesis SUV actually uses Kia Sorento’s underpinnings, which is stretched for around 12 inches. However, the 2018 Genesis SUV will be 95.inches longer, 4.7 inches wider and taller for 4.4 inches. When it comes to the possible styling, we don’t expect too many differences from the Kia Telluride Concept. The production version will lose rear suicide doors, but all other detail could easily stay on the production version. The boxy, yet boxy aggressive stance makes the exterior design truly impressive, and the details like a large grille, stylish multiple-LED headlamps or 22-inch wheels are just some of the details that could stay untouched. Inside, the concept shows just second row of seating, yet the carmaker says a third row is folded away but usable.

The 2018 Genesis full-size SUV could easily become reality, and regardless the rumors that indicate this could be a successor of the Borrego, we are pretty convinced that the Kia Telluride Concept represents an early prototype of the Genesis luxury SUV, which may come in a year or two.
