2018 Honda CR-V: Redesign and Price

Honda has finally started working on the new generation CR-V crossover. The early prototype is spotted for the first time, so we have a little bit closer information about the popular vehicle. Judging by the photos, the Japanese car manufacturer is planning to develop a completely redesigned and totally different model, which will get both exterior and interior changes, as well as better engine options. According to the latest reports, the all new model will be introduced in early 2017 as the 2018 Honda CR-V.

2018 Honda CR-V gets a new platform and styling changes

The biggest and most significant changes of the fifth generation CR-V are regarding the chassis. The crossover will be underpinned with Civic’s new platform, which will make it larger, lighter and stiffer. However, the most important change is the extended wheelbase that is said to be loner for around 5.5 inches. This should provide more than enough space for third row of seats, which is a key change of the 2018 Honda CR-V. On the other hand, the exterior redesign will bring a little bit more “Acura spirit” to the front end. As we see it, the 2018 CR-V will likely receive Acura’s latest lightening cluster and similar bumper styling. In addition, the carmaker decided to incorporate more aggressive grille styling, as well as longer hood, which provides more dynamic and crossover-looking design.

2018 Honda CR-V: Engines and Price

The base next-generation CR-V crossover will definitely offer something new. As we have heard, the Japanese car manufacturer is thinking of including a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, which is currently capable of producing 174 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, the current 2.4-liter naturally aspirated option will be offered once again, but it should deliver more power and better fuel economy. Front-wheel drive will continue to be the standard option, while the AWD system comes optionally. As for the transmission, the CVT will be sole choice.

The 2018 Honda CR-V should have a low starting price that is estimated to be under $25,000. However, the all-new three-row CR-V might cost almost $40K.
